Summary:
Issue when configuring windows small business server 2008, because it is supporting IPv6, so when we comfigure it with IPv4 and leave IPv6 enabled and blank it will stuck at “Starting Services” at startup and “Stopping Services” at shutting down this due to the error it finds in IPv6 that is empty so it can not complete the operations…
the solution for this is to disable IPv6 from the network connections and remve its line from the hosts file
Requirements:
you may need to modify the hosts file
Procedures:
disabling the IPv6 from the network connections:
-
go to network and sharing center
-
click manage network connections
-
right-click the active network connection and choose properties
-
un-check the “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)”
-
repeat this if there is any more connections on teh server
remove the IPv6 line from the hosts file:
- oepn run (or press windows key + r)
- type: “c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc”
- open the hosts file with note pad then remove the IPv6 line from the file and save it
